ISAGA 2011 Conference
held from 11-15 July 2011 in Warsaw/Jachranka – Poland
Theme: Bonds and bridges – how games and simulations encourage cooperation between sectors: business, education and public administration
The ISAGA annual conference
The ISAGA Conference each year brings together academics, trainers, game designers and business professionals from across the continent and worldwide. It’s an international platform for networking, knowledge exchange and inspiration for people active in the wide area of serious gaming.
The main focus of ISAGA 2011
In 2011 the conference will focus on how games and simulations can build bridges between sectors: business, education and public governance. Why? The globalizing world requires new competences in advanced cross-sectoral cooperation. However, experience shows that games and simulations are still being applied mainly in business and business education contexts. Therefore we observe the growing need of firstly transferring best practices from games applications in business and propagating the gaming method in other sectors and secondly promoting cross-sectoral applications of games and simulations. Transferring innovations from business to institutions responsible for creating public policy and public governance and to the general education would be a step forward in achieving the goal of “good governance” (modernization of public management).

T-Xchange Universiteit Twente Gebouw De Horst (gebouw 20) Technology Xchange Cell (locatiecode WH224)

Time is running short but it is not out yet!
The deadline for submitting full proceedings papers for review for the ISAGA2010 conference to be held 5 July to 9 July this year in Spokane has been pushed back by two weeks from the initial deadline due to a bit of confusion as to when what should be submitted. Completed papers that need to be blind-peer-reviewed for publication in the proceedings must be submitted by 15 April 2010. Papers related to the design/development, use/application and research/assessment associated with simulations and games for learning are welcome. All submissions not requiring blind-peer-review (presentations of work not to be published in the proceedings, presentation of work under development, workshops, tutorials, demonstrations, interactive game play, posters, panels, discussions and such) fall under the abstract submission deadline of 15 May 2010. Templates and details can be found on the “submissions” page of the www.isaga2010.org website.
And some news
A now-retired professional game tester will be attending ISAGA 2010 and has offered his (and some of his colleagues) services to simulation and game designers. In particular, he has offered to demonstrate the process of testing simulations and games to their limits to discover where and how they break down. Anyone wishing to have a simulation or game tested in this manner needs to contact the conference organizers at
